What is Auto-Reply?

Auto-reply is GenX’s automation mode. When enabled, every new tweet that matches your campaigns will automatically get a reply — without you lifting a finger. Here’s what happens:
  1. A tweet matches your campaign rules
  2. GenX waits for your configured delay
  3. AI generates a reply using your default tone
  4. The reply is posted to Twitter via your bot account

Setting Up Auto-Reply

  1. Go to Settings in the sidebar
  2. Find the Auto-Reply section
  3. Toggle it on

Reply Delay

The delay makes your replies feel more natural. A reply posted 0 seconds after a tweet looks automated. A reply posted 30-60 seconds later looks like a real person.
For maximum authenticity: Set the delay to 30-90 seconds. This mimics natural human response time and avoids Twitter’s spam detection.

Custom Instructions

Use the custom instructions field to give the AI permanent context: Good examples:
“You’re replying on behalf of GenX, an AI-powered Twitter growth platform. Be helpful and mention our product only when it’s genuinely relevant.”
“Always include a question to encourage conversation. Never use hashtags.”
“Keep replies under 150 characters. Be witty but never sarcastic about the person.”

When to Use Auto-Reply

  • High-volume campaigns (50+ tweets/day)
  • Time-sensitive conversations (trending topics)
  • Well-tested campaigns with proven tone
  • Overnight and weekend coverage

Use Manual Reply

  • New campaigns (still testing keywords)
  • Sensitive topics (politics, complaints)
  • High-value leads (enterprise prospects)
  • Brand-critical conversations

Monitoring Auto-Replies

Even with auto-reply on, you should check your Conversations tab regularly:
  • Posted — replies that went out successfully
  • Failed — replies that couldn’t be posted (check bot account status)
  • Activity log — shows every auto-reply action
Auto-reply is powerful but not perfect. Review your first 20-30 auto-replies to make sure the tone and content match your expectations. Adjust the custom instructions based on what you see.
